Two dimensional views of these complex rhombic crystals can appear quite different as the viewing angle is changed. Encyclopedia of Minerals, Roberts, Rapp & Wilson, 2nd edition, particularly notes augelite as "small crystals associated with lazulite, albite, and quartz at the Smith Mine near Newport ... New Hampshire." Literature references to the Newport "Smith Mine" are incorrect. The correct mine name is the Chandlers Mill Mine. See Chandlers Mill mines.pdf
